OUR STORY
Our story begins with a spark of inspiration - a small boy with a passion for nature. Matt, our founder and team leader, was born and raised in West Cornwall and grew up with an affinity for the wildlife in the surrounding countryside. Nature was a running theme throughout his childhood and, even now, he still finds inspiration in the rich history and diverse ecology of Penwith's rugged landscape.
Matt's calling was to put his hands, vision and energy into creating beautiful outdoor spaces that thrive in the wild winters and salt-soaked summers of the Cornish climate. In 2019 he established Koru Compositions - a gardening and landscaping business with a difference: balancing the needs of the garden, respect for the wider environment, and the ambitions of the client.

As the company has grown, the ethos at the heart of the business has remained the same: Sensitivity, Sustainability and Endurance.
MEET THE TEAM
Matt
​
Founder and owner of the company, Matt established the business after studying an environmental BSc. at Cornwall College and undertaking a voluntary stewardship with Cornwall Wildlife Trust as a Trainee Reserves Officer. He applied this knowledge and experience to build a company that embodied his three main passions - sustainability, the environment and creative design.
Joe

Joe is a key member of our team, specialising in hard landscaping projects such as patio and path builds.
Kit
​
Kit joined the team soon after Koru was established and has gained superior outdoor construction skills in his time here. His portfolio of creative builds include lime-mortar walls and coastal granite steps.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
As a small business, we know how important it is to source locally and responsibly. We aim to provide an exceptional service and deliver extremely high quality workmanship whilst not compromising on the end product. As well as the clear economic benefits of supporting our local economy here in picturesque Cornwall, we must also consider our carbon footprint and actively limit our impact on ecological damages felt most at the source of harvested goods and commodities. We at Koru Compositions strive in sourcing landscaping materials and plants with the environment in mind.
